Summer Kayaking Adventures For Teens:
Rapid Experiences Southeast Program
Trip Info:
More so than any of our other trips, the participants determine the pace of this trip. Our Southeast kayaking tour is designed for teen kayakers ready to take their skills to the next level by paddling some of the most classic thrilling rivers the Southeastern United States has to offer. Designed for those comfortable running class III rapids, most participants sign up for this trip when they start to feel comfortable playing on the river as they paddle. 13 days on the water is just ticket for transforming your paddling skills and boosting your whitewater confidence.
"The trip was amazing - definitely my favorite outdoor trip. I am so glad to have been a part of it."
Will Gester - Birmingham, Alabama

Itinerary
Day 1-2: The group warms up on some of the local class II-III runs in order to get an idea of where the comfort level of the group lies. Participants work with their trip leaders and instructors to design a trip schedule that will benefit every member of the group - and ensure maximum safety and FUN!
Day3-5: Always a favorite of our more advanced trips, the Pigeon, French Broad, and Ocoee rivers are a fabulous place to work on your river running and play boating skills. Our instructors always laugh about how difficult it is to get our groups off the water at the end of the day!
Day 6-8: Pack up everything you need for three days and two nights....the self-support trip down three sections of the Chattooga River is such a cool introduction to expeditionary whitewater kayaking. There is something indescribable about kayaking down a wild and scenic river, picking your campsite, and having everything you need for the night in your boat.
Day 9-11: The New River Gorge is one of the most stunningly beautiful kayaking destinations in the country. West Virginia's unspoiled wilderness is the perfect conclusion to 13 days of action packed whitewater. The group will have a choice between big water in WV or big drops in WNC on some of our local creeks.

FAQ's
Q: Can I bring my own kayaking gear?
A: Absolutely, we encourage it! However, if you do not have your own gear, we provide it for you. Green River Adventures has a complete line up of the hottest whitewater gear on the market.
Q: Where do we sleep?
A: During the Southeast trip we camp out every night. We provide the tents and group camping gear, and you bring your own sleeping bag and ground pad. We usually on the banks of the river we just paddled or plan to paddle the next day. At some rivers the best campsites are a few miles away with incredible views of the gorge or river.
Q: What do we eat?
A: Throughout the trip participants learn to cook their own meals (with some help from the trip leaders) on camp stoves. For breakfast we usually eat something simple like cereal or granola and fresh fruit. Lunches are deli style and usually eaten while taking a break on the river. Dinners are always a favorite - hot meals over a fire or camp stove.
